Professional Hopes and Goals
There is so much information learned from this course and being able to practice it, is a must. Each of us have the potential and influences to make a better environment and experiences for our children and families, is just a matter of getting into action.
One of my goal working with children and families who come from diverse backgrounds is to keep working on showing respect and appreciation for who they are and what they can bring into the classroom. Make sure that children feel a sense of belonging in their learning environment as well as representing the families culture within the class and learn from their surface culture as well. Another important goal is also to keep building partnerships with the families and learn from each other.
One goal I would like to set for the early childhood field is for us who either work directly or indirectly with parents and children to take at look at ourselves and reflect on who we really are, what we really want for the children and families and what we want our outcomes to look like. Another goal would be is to learn from our experiences and serve as each others resource outlet.
I want to take the chance to thank everyone that took the time to read my blog and answer with your feed backs, it is very much taken into consideration and appreciated. I hope I see some of you in other future courses.

Hi Ana, first I would like to congratulate you on making it to the end of the course. I would also like to say that I enjoyed reading your blogs and learning things about you and your culture. After reading your post, I agree with you on your goal when you mentioned that we need to reflect on ourselves to see who we really are that way we can better help the children and their families. I know there are a lot of families and children that need our help and I would love to be able to help them out in the best way that I can. I really enjoyed reading your post and I hope that you continue with your journey and I wish you all the best of luck.
ReplyDeleteAna, I love that you mentioned how important it is for us to be a resource to the children and families that we work with in regards to cultural diversity. I know that this is not a topic that early childhood professionals routinely gather information on, and it is a very needed resource. I think the more opportunities we have to learn about one another the better the chance that relationships will grow and an anti-bias world will be a reality. Great idea-thanks for thinking of it! Carolyn
ReplyDeleteAna, I really enjoyed reading your post. I like that fact that you would like to work directly with children and families directly or indirectly in this field and reflect on yourself. I think that self reflection is the best. I think that self reflection is so important because we can't help anyone else until we help ourselves. Well I enjoyed getting to read the post that you have put up and learning about you throughout this course. Good luck with your future courses!
